Kirsty Maxwell - Family investigators return to Benidorm to seek answers after fall death

Investigators hired by the family of Kirsty Maxwell, who fell to her death in Benidorm during a hen do in 2017, have returned to the Spanish resort to seek answers.

The 27-year-old, from Livingston in West Lothian, fell from a tenth floor balcony of an apartment which was occupied by five men from Nottingham.

Her family believe newlywed Kirsty lost her grip on the balcony barrier after scaling it. They are trying to piece together the events before her death.

A team led by former detective David Swindle will attempt to assist the court-led investigation into her death, speaking to tourists at the resort who may remember incidents on April 29, 2017.

Kirsty's family released a statement saying: "Two years we have been fighting for answers and justice, two years we have been fighting to get to the truth that led to the brutal death of our beautiful girl Kirsty, two years of heartbreak fighting to find and present the missing pieces of this nightmare puzzle that will help explain the circumstances and events that occurred within the 11 hours Kirsty spent in Benidorm that finally lead to her suspicious death.

"We know there are people out there who have yet to come forward with information that could assist us as a family getting closer to the truth. Please help us."

No charges have been brought in the case and Spanish police believe Kirsty jumped from the balcony after a night out with friends.

Mr Swindle said: "It is shocking that Kirsty’s family have had to keep pushing and pushing for answers and basic lines of enquiry to be progressed.
