Kirsty Gallacher shares teenage throwback as sports fanatic before fame as TV presenter

Kirsty Gallacher shared a throwback photo of her teenage days as a young sports fanatic before she became a famous presenter.

The Edinburgh TV star, 45, posted the old snap aged 13 looking unrecognisable as a youngster with blonde hair hoping to make it big in the sports industry.

Posting on Instagram, the former Sky Sports presenter compared the sweet photo of her younger self with a more recent one living out her dream and interviewing golfing legend Jordan Spieth at St Andrews.

Reminiscing with her 347,000 followers, Kirsty said her journey in sports had its "highs and lows" and that she was "never far from some sort of court or pitch growing up".

She wrote: "13 year old me on the tennis court... I was never far from some sort of court or pitch growing up!

"Then fast track to me as an adult working in sport, here I am interviewing the great @jordanspieth at Royal St Andrews.

"This is my journey in sports and it’s definitely had its highs, lows and memorable moments."

Andy's Murray's coach and ex professional tennis player Jamie Delgado showed his appreciation in the comments, writing: "Yesssssssss loving the first pic!!!!!!!"

Other fans couldn't believe the dark-haired sports presenter was blonde as a teen, with one writing: "What, you're blonde?"

Kirsty was forced to address her hair colour in and comments and wrote: "It went darker as a teenager. It was only light in the summer as a child."

The Scottish presenter is best known for her role on Sky Sports News where she has helped establish the channel and the success it has had over the years.

A chance encounter led Kirsty to land a job as a production assistant at Sky before she was soon noticed for her incredible knowledge of sports, from gold to rugby.

She was hired for a role in front of the camera and within her first year of presenting she won two TV awards and has landed a string of appearances, from Strictly Come Dancing to Lorraine and A Question of Sport.

After being a regular part of the team at Sky since 1998, Kirsty left her role in 2018 to embark on new ventures and recently launched a sports podcast to keep her occupied during lockdown.

In 2017, was banned from driving for two years after being caught three times over the drink-drive limit.

She blamed 'divorce stress' on the charge following the breakdown of her marriage to ex-rugby union player Paul Sampson whom she shares her sons, Oscar, 13, and 10-year-old Jude, with.
