Location, Location, Location presenter Kirstie Allsopp has lambastedThe Guardian for their spoof video of her Channel 4 programme.
The Guardian’s parody video titled Exploitation, Exploitation: A Property Show For Millenials takes the same format as Allsopp’s programme with co-presenter Phil Spencer.
But unlike the 44-year-old television presenter’s show, it explores the problems faced by millennials coping with sky-rocketing rents.
The Hampstead-born property mogul, who has hosted a number of property programmes, said the video feels "very personal", "cruel" and "meanspirited".
Focusing specifically on the housing crisis currently facing London, the video shows how rising rents and stagnant wages are making it increasingly difficult for young people to make ends meet in the capital. In a city where garden sheds are sold as homes for £70,000, house prices are soaring at such a rate that a quarter of all London homes are set to exceed £1 million in value by 2013.
The actor in The Guardian’s video openly mocks Allsopp.
“Now this flat is a teeny weeny bit smally wally but I want you to remember something important, you are not rich enough to have anything bigger,” says the actor before showing the participants around a derelict house.
“Finding homes for people who haven’t inherited a sackload of cash is a first for us,” she adds.
The Guardian and Allsopp did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
