Kirstie Allsopp denies she 'broke any rules' by moving family after coronavirus diagnosis

Kirstie Allsopp has defended her decision to move her family to their home in Devon to self isolate after her partner tested positive for coronavirus.

The telly star's partner Ben has been battling Covid-19, and she has said she's also got symptoms.

It later emerged Kirstie, 48, had moved the family back to their main residence in the county to isolate, and she had to speak out to deny suggestions they'd fled to their holiday home.

She's now returned to Twitter to insist she did nothing wrong as the house where they are now living is their full-time home.

Kirstie tweeted: "During this time of national crisis many families have had difficult choices to make, in a rush, with minion info.

"But we did what we thought was most sensible, and we did not break any rules or regulations that existed at that time."

In another tweet, she hinted she's thinking about leaving Devon after the furore.

She wrote: "Home is where the heart is, and ever since I met Ben, Devon has been our home.

"It’s the only place both my children & stepchildren call home; living as a blended family isn’t always easy & It sheltered us in tricky times, I thought we’d be here forever. I don’t think that anymore."

Kirstie also posted a message complaining about being trolled for moving her family between homes, and was called out by Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan.

He wrote: "Kirstie, you’re rich, privileged & isolating in a lavish country home with your family.

"Maybe stop making this crisis about your struggle with trolls & direct your energy into rallying support for NHS workers risking their lives for us all in very dangerous circumstances?"

The telly star was left furious, and called Piers a "b*****d" for retweeting her message to his millions of followers.

Piers replied: "Oh get over yourself. Seriously. People are dying, and others are risking their lives to try to save them. Get a grip & help them."

Kirstie previously explained that she did not flee to the family's holiday home after they became sick.

She told Metro: "We thought, what do we do? Do we go to the place which already has food in the freezer, already has stuff, you know, I got more loo roll in this house.

"I don't need to buy more loo roll. I'm a kind of a classic, eldest, first child and incredibly organised.

"So I didn't need to go out and buy more paracetamol or take anything from anybody else. I have all that I need here.

"So when we got this obviously worrying diagnosis, we came to the place where we were safest where the dog could be walked, without going outside."

Kirstie and Ben have two sons, and s he is also stepmother to his two children from a previous relationship.
