Kirkpatrick Durham mountainbiker Polly Henderson starts Enduro World Series challenge with victory

Mountainbiker Polly Henderson got her Enduo World Series challenge off to the perfect start.

The Kirkpatrick Durham rider won the opening round of this season’s women’s under-21 championship at Val di Fassa in Italy on Friday.

Victory on the first three stages put her on top with one stage to go and she took victory by nearly six seconds from America’s Anna Newkirk.

Val di Fassa also hosted the second round over the same weekend, Polly – a two-time Stewartry junior sports personality of the year – clinching another podium finish as she came home third.

The two results see her top of the early standings, 30 points clear of Italy’s Sophie Riva.

The next events in the series are also in Italy with a trip to Vittoria in Sicily in store on July 8.
