Kirkintilloch crash leads to motorcyclist being rushed to hospital

A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital after a crash between a bike and a car in Kirkintilloch.

East Dunbartonshire Council earlier confirmed cops had closed Glasgow Road between the Peel Park roundabout and the Torrance roundabout, following a 'major incident'.

Police Scotland have since advised Glasgow Live the biker was taken to hospital with a leg injury following the incident.

A police spokesperson said: "Around 9.15am on Friday 24 May 2019, police were called to a report of a road crash involving a motorbike and a car in Glasgow Road, Kirkintilloch.

"The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to a leg injury.

"The driver of the car was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

"Road has been reopened."

The council's earlier statement read: "Police Scotland have closed Glasgow Road in Kirkintilloch between the Peel Park Roundabout and the Torrance Roundabout due to a major incident. We will update here when we hear when the road is reopened to traffic."
