Kirkgunzeon Primary lights up to bring festive cheer to the village

Kirkgunzeon Primary pupils, staff and community members came together at a safe distance to bring festive cheer to the village.

Tree lights were sponsored and dedications displayed for others to read and reflect on their own family and friendships at this special time of year. While pupils enjoyed a film night in the school on Monday evening, lights were left on to allow villagers to walk around the outside and see the winter displays and to purchase some Christmas decorations created by pupils as part of an enterprise project.

Head teacher Mrs Alexander was delighted with the support from the school community and said: “Our Light Up Kirkgunzeon project has been a wonderful way of putting our school back at the centre of our community.

“Covid restrictions have prevented us from inviting everyone in so we created an outdoor event and it was heartwarming to see everyone out and about. I am so grateful to Lotus Electrical and Glaisters for helping us run this event again and to all those who donated to our project.”

All funds raised will go towards outdoor learning and helping staff and pupils create a learning space for the school and community to enjoy. The dedications will remain on display outside Kirkgunzeon Primary over the festive period.
