Kirkgunzeon boy raises money to support an African wildlife charity

A Kirkgunzeon youngster has raised £250 to help animals in Africa.

Clark Maxwell held a fundraiser for Egypt Equine Aid which treats sick and injured horses and educates their owners about better care.

The charity put out an appeal for help as the coronavirus pandemic means there are no tourists visiting the pyramids.

That’s hit the income of the owners, with the charity now looking after the horses until the crisis is over.

Clark, aged 11, suggested to his mum Emma that they could sell off squares which friends and family could buy for £2 each, with the winners receiving a luxury hamper.

They had hoped to raise £40 for the charity but were delighted to be able to send £250.

Proud mum Emma said: “I have supported Egypt Equine Aid for many years, sending head collars, bits, bandages, fly rugs and nose bands and donated to them to buy food and veterinary equipment and supplies.

“They aim to decrease and hopefully prevent animals from suffering and provide the best quality of life for their wellbeing.

“Jill Barton and her dedicated team work tirelessly 24/7 to help these horses in need.

“They want to raise funds to establish a permanent Equine hospital that will train local vets.

“Myself and my son are huge animal lovers, owning two horses, one donkey and four dogs.

“Clark wanted to raise £40 to buy one fan as it is currently 43 degrees over there.

“Friends and family on Facebook supported Clark in his plea and we are amazed to be able to send £250.

“I am so proud of my son and his huge efforts to help others so they can help animals in need.

“He is 11 years old and has a heart of gold.”
