Kirkcudbright Youth Project hand out goodie bags to keep kids entertained during coronavirus pandemic

Eighty kids in Kirkcudbright received special goodie bags on Tuesday to entertain them during the coronavirus pandemic.

The team from Kirkcudbright Youth Project delivered the packages, full of puzzles, sweets and other treats.

Manager Eilean Parker said: “It’s just something for the kids to do.

“We have a junior section and a senior section. The junior section is for P5 to P7 and has 60 members and the seniors is for S1 and up and has 20 members.

“Everyone has been really helpful, all the small businesses that have been able to help have done so.”

The youth project – which has four other workers and a number of volunteers – comes under the umbrella of Kirkcudbright Development Trust.

Among the donations for the bags were sweets from the Co-op, tangerines and gift cards from Tesco and pens and pencils from Wilko.

The Rob n Roll shop donated the bags and Supersave opened up specially, offering 20 per cent off stock.

The project also used some of their funding from The Holywood Trust to buy puzzle books.
