Kirkcudbright's Dark Space Planetarium promises out of this world tourist attraction

A new visitor attraction promises to be out of this world.

The Kirkcudbright Dark Space Planetarium has been launched and developed by the town’s development trust as part of its £2.6 million project to transform the Johnston School building.

Construction was completed earlier this year and the new planetarium will officially open later due to Covid restrictions.

The state-of-the-art visitor attraction which will inform and educate people of all ages as it celebrates the majesty and infinity of space, the wonders of science, the thrill of space exploration and the magic of the Dark Skies Park.

The trustees of Kirkcudbright Development Trust acknowledged the support of Heritage Lottery Fund, Scottish Government, South of Scotland Enterprise Partnership, The Wolfson Foundation, The Robertson Trust, Dumfries and Galloway Council, Kirkcudbright Common Good Fund, Galloways Glens Landscape Partnership, Historic Environment Scotland, Castle Maclellan, The Holywood Trust and LEADER.
