The annual Galloway Recycle Sportive, organised by the Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright will be held next month.
Starting and finishing in Kirkcudbright, this year’s sportive, taking place on Saturday, August 21, will offer three routes – 30 miles, 67 miles or 80 miles, catering for different levels of fitness and stamina. Riders will leave between 8.30am and 9.30am and head into the countryside to Castle Douglas and on into the Galloway hills before returning to Kirkcudbright alongside the spectacular Solway Firth coast road through Auchencairn. All routes are signposted and marshalled and with food-stops en-route and at the finish.
The popular summer event will raise money for the Killie Can Cycle charity based in Kilmarnock which restores donated bicycles before sending them to charities in Africa which pass them on to children for riding to school. The other half will go to support other Rotary projects both locally and overseas.
