Kirkcudbright Primary pupils raise more than £300 on World Down Syndrome Day

Big-hearted Kirkcudbright Primary School children raised just over £300 on World Down Syndrome Day last Thursday.

And it was P7 pupils who arranged a series of fun activities and sales tables to collect the cash haul.

Children were encouraged to wear odd socks as the footwear resembles the shape of a chromosome.

“The P7 class organised a baking stall and different competitions at break and lunchtime.

“They all had great fun with bagatelle, shuffle board, guess teddy’s birthday and guess the number of sweeties in a jar.”

Ruth added: “It was all part of an enterprise project for P7.

“They made posters for the day and advertised it, counted all the money and worked out the profit and loss.

“It was a very worthwhile exercise and they did a great job.”

All proceeds from the day were raised in aid of Down’s Syndrome Scotland.
