Kirkcudbright Primary pupils enjoy day out of outdoor activity at Carrick Beach

Two Kirkcudbright Primary classes enjoyed a day of outdoor activity at Carrick Beach.

Mr Wild’s P2/3 class and Mrs Philip’s P3 class had a fun-filled day.

There was beautiful weather and the water was calm with little breeze.

The day started with a sandcastle building competition before the youngsters worked their way through various activities, including a beach treasure hunt, a hill walk to a viewpoint with plant identification, tower building using whatever they could find on the beach, stone art using Carrick flat stones and fire making, popcorn popping and roasting marshmallows.

The classes were accompanied by head teacher Mr Stevens, learning assistants Mrs Baird and Mrs Baty, stone artist Rose Ardron and parents Jaimie Houston, Peter Hutcheson and Rick Newman.
