Kirkcudbright Jazz Festival made its long-awaited return over the weekend.
Thousands of people gathered in the town to enjoy some of the best jazz music around.
One of the highlights was EB’s Five Go Jazzin’, which convener Leon McCaig had specially assembled for the weekend.
Led by Ewan Bleach on clarinet and saxophones, it also featured Mike Daly – one of Scotland’s top cornet players – John Fenner on banjo and guitar, Jim Swinnerton on bass and Jack Cotterill on drums.
People came from all over the UK to enjoy the spectacle, with some visitors even making the journey from Germany.
And one of the main draws was on Saturday morning as a colourful procession made its way through the town for the brolly parade.
The festival’s Avive Asbridge said: “The Kirkcudbright Jazz Festival has been a resounding success this year.

“From the moment people started arriving for the first event on Thursday there was a celebratory atmosphere, as both visitors to the festival and bands were reunited for the first time in three years.
“It was clear from the beginning that everyone was ready to enjoy the music and to have a great
time.
“The brolly parade was a huge success and thankfully we didn’t need the brollies.
“We had a great turn out of decorated brollies from people of all ages and the event definitely turned some heads as they marched through the town.
“It was great to have so many families involved this year, joining the parade with their decorated brollies and there was a great turn out to watch them make their way through the town, following the musicians.
“There was a great range of venues and bands this year – there really was something for everyone.
“That really is testament to the quality of the bands and the hard work and effort put in by the volunteers.”
