Kirkcudbright Food Festival set to go ahead on October 24 and 25

Kirkcudbright is getting ready to welcome foodies this weekend.

The town’s annual food festival is taking place over Saturday and Sunday with plenty in store to tantalise the tastebuds.

And organisers are planning for the popular event on the basis the current coronavirus restrictions don’t tighten up further.

Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities chairman John Blaikie said: “We’ve our fingers crossed that nothing changes.

“The big marquee will be up in Harbour Square for our producers market. There will be a one-way system in place and we’ll be asking people to wear facemasks and follow all the guidelines.

“The cookery demonstrations will be in Station House Cookery School but there are very limited numbers. Some are sold out already.

“We will be live streaming them online so if people are not able to get a ticket for something they would like to see then they can watch it online for a fee.”

Food producers from across Dumfries and Galloway will be selling their produce in Harbour Square from 10am until 4pm on both days.

There will also be a series of cookery demonstrations and talks in Station House Cookery School with everything from wild game and beer from Will Gill of the Auld Alliance to a steak and eggs Sunday brunch with Sandersons of Senwick.

Limited tickets are available online at www.stationhousecookeryschool.co.uk where people will also be able to watch the demos from the comfort of their own home.

And there will also be a red deer safari at Gledpark Deer Farm near Borgue.

● The Summer Festivities team is looking for an iPhone to help with streaming the cookery demonstrations.

They need an iPhone 6 or better with working camera, wi fi and charging port and charger. Devices will be reset to factory settings and can be returned after the weekend or kept for future use.

Anyone who can help out can message the Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities team through Facebook.
