A young Kirkcudbright artist will open an exhibition of his latest work in Dumfries this weekend.
Ryan Gillan has produced a stunning series of works for his Mythical Digital show at the Ottersburn Gallery.
The radical digital art spectacular opens on Saturday and will run for two weeks.
Ryan – who is based in Kirkcudbright’s WASPS Studios, is already something of a celebrity on the local art scene.
After gaining a young artists’ residency through WASPS and the Holywood Trust, his work has featured in Spring Fling over the past five years.
Now the talented 28-year-old is thrilled the fruits of his labours are going on public view.
“Constructing anatomically correct images is a very time-consuming part of the process,” said Ryan.
“These intricate images do take so much time to create.
“But the benefits of creating work of a digital medium really become apparent when it comes to producing tangible versions of the images, such as high quality giclee prints on paper for mounting and framing.”
The Stewartry digi-wizard draws inspiration from photographs, sketches and his own imagination to create digital masterpieces using latest technology and cutting-edge software.
Noted for their high level of detail and perfect structure, the works reveal the huge level of patience, dedication and attention to detail required to compile every one.
“Each new piece can often take months to complete,” said Ryan.
The Ottersburn Gallery, run by Sean McKay, aims to showcase the creativity of artists and art groups across the region.
Mr McKay said: “Gillan’s exhibition of digital creations encourages us to explore art of the truly modern age.”
Mythical Digital by Ryan Gillan will run at the Ottersburn Gallery until November 15.
