Kirkcudbright and Twynholm Scouts look for support after being chosen for Co-op Local Community Fund

Kirkcudbright and Twynholm Scouts are looking for public support.

The group has been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund which means 1p goes to good causes when members buy selected Co-op branded products.

Scout leader Jennifer Russell said: “As you can imagine, the last 18 months have been really challenging for small, charitable groups like ours. The pandemic has drastically affected our fundraising efforts, so we’re grateful to have this partnership with the local Co-op.

"We’re urging members to choose us as their cause so we can deliver our project and help more people in Kirkcudbright and Twynholm.

“We’re raising funds to take our youngsters climbing which will allow them to complete their Scout climbers badgework. The Scouts have missed so much over the past couple of years and need to be undertaking adventurous activities designed to challenge and engage them.

"The group has doubled in numbers proving that children want to find ways of pushing themselves mentally and physically, therefore it is vital we provide those activities to help them gain confidence and aspire to do their best.”

The group completed its food bank challenge by spending subs on food for Stewartry Food Bank.
