Kirkcudbright Academy hosts drop-in to give parents the chance to find out about school curriculum

Kirkcudbright Academy recently staged a drop-in session for parents to talk first hand to pupils and teachers about the school curriculum and many other subjects.

Head teacher Mr Tuffery was delighted with the response to the event.

He said: “I was really pleased with the success of another parental engagement evening where parents from across all year groups were able to talk to pupils and staff about a wide range of topics at our information tables.

“Topics included the SCQF framework, curriculum structure, pupil support, literacy across learning and Show-My-Homework.

“Staff and pupils were on hand to talk about anything else too.”

Dee and Glenkens Councillor Pauline Drysdale attended the session.

She said: “I was delighted to attend such a positive event whereby direct face-to-face communication alleviates parents’ concerns about their children’s choices and the the methods in which the school works.

“The pupils showed initiative here and the success of the event could be felt by the positive vibe in the room.”
