Kirkby street sealed off by police after reports of stabbing

A Merseyside street was sealed off by police after unconfirmed reports of a stabbing.

Simonswood Lane in Kirkby was closed at around 1.30pm on Sunday, as officers descended on the area.

Witnesses told the ECHO that the incident involved a person who was stabbed - but this is yet to be confirmed by police.

Merseyside Police said a man was taken to hospital with minor injuries after they responded "to an incident of disorder in the Kirkby area."

A police spokesperson was unable to confirm the nature of the incident and declined to provide any further details.

Detectives remain at the scene this evening where a cordon is in place along a section of the street.

Photos show several police vehicles parked up in the area including two scientific support vans.
