Kirkbean and New Abbey Primary pupils enjoy painting day with Julie Dumbarton

Kirkbean and New Abbey primary school children were lucky enough to have a painting day with Julie Dumbarton recently.

Artist Julie had got in touch through Kirkbean Primary’s Facebook page, to express an interest in stone troughs the school had for sale.

Head teacher Helen Anderson offered the troughs to Julie – in exchange for time with the children.

Julie was delighted to oblige and came to school to hold art sessions with pupils.

Children – and staff – learned how to paint a woodland walk in stages on hard board provided by GW Joinery and Construction Ltd.

Mrs Anderson said: “There was much excitement throughout the day and each child took home their own work of art.

“It really was a magical day and we are hoping to see Julie again in the future.”
