Kirk Herbstreit still has Ohio State at No. 4 after dominant win over Michigan State

What does a team have to do to get some love from an alum turned analyst? After trouncing Michigan State yesterday by a score of 52-12, Ohio State looked dominant in just about every aspect of the game. Especially when you consider how many starters and contributing players were absent due to COVID.

Over half of the Buckeye starting offensive line was missing and one was playing out of position as could be seen by the number of shotgun snaps that went awry. Yet the Bucks managed to rack up over 520 yards of total offense with two 100 yard rushers.

Still not good enough for Kirk Herbstreit who left Notre Dame and one-loss Clemson ahead of the Buckeyes in his weekly rankings. While OSU thoroughly dominated, the Irish and Tigers looked somewhat shakey against inferior opponents. Both teams got off to slow starts before pulling away in the second half. But a win is a win… I guess.

The new college football playoff rankings come out Tuesday at 7 pm. We’ll find out then if the Buckeyes did enough against Sparty to move up the rankings or if they’ll be stuck in the No. 4 slot.
