In a strange turn of events, ESPN College Gameday analyst Kirk Herbstreit has Ohio State in his top three following Week 2. Herbstreit, an Ohio State alum, has typically been tougher on his former college.
In Week 2, Herbstreit valued the more difficult opponents. While Cincinnati wasn’t a true match for Ohio State, the Buckeyes dominant 42-0 victory slid them right over Oklahoma and Georgia.
However, No. 4, was a surprise. After an absolutely thrilling winning over Texas at Texas, Herbstreit slides Louisiana State all the way up at No. 4.
It really wouldn’t have shocked anyone if they went above Ohio State as well having the most impressive victory of any top-six university. Following the ending of LSU’s game, Herbstreit tweeted out his top six, and the top two remained unchanged.
The Tigers were rewarded for a huge, statement win, and Ohio State was rewarded for clobbering an average inner-state opponent.
As for the two that dropped, Oklahoma won by 56 over South Dakota after an 18-point Week 1 victory over Houston. Georgia beat Murray State by 46 after being Vandy by 24 in Week 1.
