Kirk Herbstreit ranks his top four college football teams after week 7

Another week of college football and another week of Kirk Herbstreit giving us his top four teams. Herbie has made a point each week to emphasize that his picks are only of teams that have actually played. Good news Ohio State football fans, if all goes according to plan Saturday against Nebraska, this is the last week the Buckeyes will be off that list.

Remember, this is Herbstreit’s opinion, just like anyone else is entitled to. However, it’s hard to argue anyone watches and studies more college football than the ESPN College Gameday host.

At No. 1 on Herbie’s list is Clemson, fresh off a drubbing of lowly Georgia Tech. At No. 2 is Alabama who made some second-half adjustments to come from behind and soundly defeat No. 3 Georgia.

This is where the list gets somewhat interesting as Georgia remained his No. 3 ranked team even after a 17 point loss in Tuscaloosa. I guess Herbie saw enough from the Bulldogs to leave them in the three slot.

Or maybe he didn’t see enough from Notre Dame who barely escaped with a win over Louisville by a score of 12-7. Not really a compelling case to leapfrog anyone.

Herbstreit gives some love to Texas A&M and BYU as his next two in. After this week, however, I fully expect Notre Dame out of his top four and Ohio State immediately jumps to his No. 3 spot.

It’s finally game week, and the entire nation is anxious to see what the Ohio State can do.
