If there’s one analyst Ohio State fans love to keep an eye on, it’s former Buckeye quarterback Kirk Herbstreit. Many fans have a love/hate relationship with the ESPN analyst. Some believe he goes out of his way to be too hard on Ohio State, while others believe no matter what he does, he can’t hide his Buckeye pride.
Either way, he does try his best to be objective in his views across the landscape of college football, so when he says something, you try to listen.
To that end, Herbie provides his opinion rankings of the top teams in college football after each week, and over the last few, he’s had Ohio State as his No. 1 team. So what does he think after this week? Well, it’s more of the same.
He still has Ohio State on top with LSU, Alabama, and Clemson rounding out the top four. Of note — Penn State has cracked his top six after beating Michigan, and after Wisconsin stubbed its toe on a rather unexpected corner heading to a game against the Buckeyes.
Now, if only the official polls would come around to this sort of thinking…
