Kirk Herbstreit blasted ‘lunatic fringe’ Ohio State fans in College GameDay rant

ESPN college football personality Kirk Herbstreit wasn’t afraid to go after his fellow Ohio State fans when discussing overreactions to the team’s 23-3 win over Indiana this past Saturday.

During a College GameDay segment based on a “panic meter” for various teams, Herbstreit went on a tear about Buckeye fans who are freaking out about the team not completely dominating the Hoosiers last week.

New Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord missed a few passes during the win, and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was held scoreless.

However, Herbstreit feels that anyone ready to write the Buckeyes off after working-out-the-kinks type of win belong in the “lunatic fringe” of the fanbase.

“They think Kyle McCord’s terrible because he didn’t hit some open receivers… just chill out,” Herbstreit told his GameDay co-hosts. “They thought C.J. Stroud was terrible because he lost to Oregon. That’s just the lunatic fringe there. They’re out of their minds.”

Whew, Herbstreit didn’t hold back there against his fellow Buckeyes.

Ohio State looked just fine against Youngstown State on Saturday, so maybe Herbstreit knows what he’s talking about on this one.
