Kirk Douglas used his dying words to endorse Michael Bloomberg for president, according to his son, Michael Douglas.
The younger Douglas appeared at a Bloomberg campaign rally in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, just a few days after his father’s death.
Footage of the event posted on the Instagram account for Bloomberg’s campaign shows Douglas thanking the crowd for “your thoughts and your prayers and your good wishes about my dad”.
He’s then heard saying that his father praised Bloomberg as a presidential candidate not long before his death.
“I don’t know if he was pulling my leg or not, but one of the last words that he said in the hospital – when he came and he saw me, [he] asked me to lean over closely,” Douglas said.
He continued: “And I leaned over closely and he looked at me and said: ‘Mike can get it done.’”
The crowd cheered in response to the story.
Bloomberg is one of 11 Democrats still running for president in the 2020 election.
