Kirk Cousins wins NFC Offensive Player of the Month for October

Bye week for football, basketball doesn’t start until Tuesday, why not spend the weekend catching up on the notable stories of Spartans in pro sports? We have already covered Kenny Goins tearing up Eurobasket and Draymond Green’s hand injury. The next bit of pro sports Michigan State news to cover? Kirk Cousins, MSU alum and Minnesota Vikings star QB has been named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Month.

This is an awesome story because Cousins was highly criticized to start the season before exploding in October. October was possibly Cousins best month as a pro and he led the Vikings to a 4-0 month during that time, including a big road win over the Detroit Lions.

For the month, Cousins completed 91 of 116 (78.4 percent) of his passes for 1,261 yards and 10 touchdowns. He only threw one interception the whole month and had a passer rating of 137.1.

This is the third time Cousins has won the monthly award, winning it twice with the Washington Redskins.
