Kirk Broadfoot wanted for sensational Kilmarnock return as St Mirren demand fee for veteran

Kilmarnock have made a sensational move to try and re-sign Kirk Broadfoot.

Killie have approached St Mirren to see if they will let the experienced defender return to Rugby Park.

The 35-year-old controversially quit Kilmarnock in September because he couldn’t work under Italian coach Angelo Alessio.

Broadfoot, who has 18 months left on his deal, didn’t want to leave the Ayrshire side but couldn’t work with the Italian who was sacked at the end of last year.

The former Scotland and Rangers star spoke out about Alessio’s training and coaching, which was later echoed by the Killie players who eventually forced him out.

Broadfoot played some of his best football under Steve Clarke and now his assistant Alex Dyer has replaced him and he wants him back.

Kilmarnock have made an approach to Saints but the Paisley club are demanding a fee.

Meanwhile, the club are also considering a £200,000 offer from Oxford United for Stephen O'Donnell.

The right-back has entered the final months of his deal and has held pre-contract talks with Karl Robinson's side.
