Kirk Broadfoot set to leave Kilmarnock after contract termination request is agreed

Former Scotland defender Kirk Broadfoot has left Kilmarnock.

The 35-year-old asked last week to get his Rugby Park deal terminated.

Killie chief Billy Bowie has now agreed to that request, freeing up Broadfoot to sign for another club.

He was one of Killie’s stalwarts as they finished third under Steve Clarke last season and made a Europa League return.

The experienced former Rangers defender played the majority of games under new boss Angelo Alessio but remained unconvinced by the new Killie management team.

The ex-Rangers star, who moved to Rugby Park two seasons ago, is not ready to hang up the boots and can look for a club as a free agent after the close of the window.

Killie have brought in central defenders Alex Bruce and Dario Del Fabro and are also still trying to get Jack Hendry in on-loan from Celtic before the deadline.

That is part of another deal that could see Killie’s Scotland defender Greg Taylor head to Parkhead.

Kilmarnock are also closing in on a deal for Graham Dorrans as the midfielder has talks over having the final year of his Rangers contract paid up.
