In a clash of caretaker coaches, SCG Muang Thong United's Santi Chaipuek and Bangkok Glass' Amnaj Kaewkew shared the spoils as the two sides played out an entertaining -- albeit violent -- 2-2 draw in Thai League 1 on Sunday night.
While Bangkok Glass halted Muang Thong's brief run of victories under Santi on their home ground, their heroics failed to pull them out of the relegation zone.
The Kirins broke the deadlock when Heberty Fernandes struck from the spot in the 28th minute after ramming a free-kick into the post.
But the Glass Rabbits hit back only four minutes later when Federic Mendy tapped home before Daniel Rodriguez headed in the second seven minutes into the second half.
There was a scuffle between the players of the two sides which ended with the home team's Charyl Chappuis given his marching orders for committing a foul on Daniel Toti, who himself received a yellow card warning.
The Kirins did not give in and young Chenrop Samphaodi gave Santi some breathing space by heading in a cross in the 66th minute.
Meanwhile, Rangsan Wiwatchaichok celebrated his appointment as the caretaker coach of Police Tero as his men dragged high-flying Port down to earth, handing their rivals a 4-2 loss. Police sacked their coach, Irishman Scott Cooper, on Friday.
Young Myanmar striker Aung Thu struck twice and Michael N'Dri added two goals to the Police tally last night. David Rochela and Kevin Deeromram netted for Port in the dying moments.
Another interim coach, Somchai Maivilai, also tasted success as Ratchaburi Mitr Phol routed Navy 4-0 on the back of a hat-trick by South Korean Soo Il-Kang. Their fourth goal was scored by Chutipol Thongtae.
At Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok United were edged 1-0 by visiting Chiang Rai United, who netted the winner through Victor Cardozo.
At Thung Thalay Luang Stadium, hosts Sukhothai snapped their three-game winless run with a narrow 1-0 victory over Ubon UMT United.
On Saturday night, hosts Chainat Hornbill lost 2-1 to Nakhon Ratchasima.
