Former champions SCG Muang Thong United hope to return to winning ways when they visit Chainat in Thai League 1 today.
The former champions lost 2-0 at Ratchaburi at the weekend to stay 11th in the 16-team top flight.
The setback led to Phairoj Bovornwattanadilok quitting as coach of the Kirins after just five games in the league this season.
On paper, the Kirins have one of the strongest squads with a number of Thailand internationals including Teerasil Dangda, Adisak Kraisorn, Tristan Do and Adisorn Promrak.
But under Phairoj, who joined the club in the close season, Muang Thong had two wins and three defeats in the league. "It will be a tough game but we have to quickly get back on track. Chainat also lost at the weekend, so they will surely want to bounce back too," caretaker coach Utai Boonmao said yesterday.
"Our players are looking forward to the match and we hope that we win to regain our confidence."
Meanwhile, leaders Buriram United host Chiang Rai today.
Buriram assistant manager Sirichai Kimoto said: "After taking the top spot, our players feel confident and we have to keep the momentum.
"We will be playing at home so we have to aim for three points."
The match was originally scheduled at Chiang Rai but both clubs have agreed to reverse their fixtures due to the air pollution in Chiang Rai.
