Kirby Smart was furious after taking a Gatorade bath right to the face

As time expired in the Georgia Bulldogs’ 26-14 win over Baylor in Wednesday’s Sugar Bowl, Kirby Smart really thought he made it through the game unscathed … without a Gatorade bath.

The decidedly dry Smart started his jog towards midfield to shake hands with Baylor’s Matt Rhule, but Smart only made it around four more steps before Latavious Brini and Ameer Speed intervened with the most aggressive Gatorade bath we’ve seen since Nick Saban in 2009.

Smart took a full cooler of yellow Gatorade right to the side of the face. Like, the man turned right into pool of cold sports drink and furiously hopped around for a few seconds. By the time he collected himself enough to yell at the perpetrators, Brini and Speed were already out of sight.

I still don’t understand why Smart was so angry about the Gatorade shower. He had to expect it. It’s only been a thing football players do to their coaches after big wins for, oh, almost 40 years.

In all likelihood, he wasn’t too thrilled with the Gatorade hitting him directly in the face.

But honestly, you have to appreciate that kind of accuracy. It was next level.
