Kirby Smart updates injury status of key players

In his weekly Monday press conference, Kirby Smart addressed the status of several injured starters.

According to Coach Smart, Lawrence Cager “is probably going to be out this week” for the Dawgs’ home game against Kentucky. The graduate transfer from Miami has recorded 19 receptions this season, tied for the team lead with freshman phenom George Pickens. Cager nursed a shoulder injury entering Saturday’s eventual loss to South Carolina and developed a rib injury during the contest.

Smart also announced that junior offensive lineman Justin Shaffer is out indefinitely with a sprained neck.

Georgia’s head football coach added that junior left guard Solomon Kindley is expected to play on Saturday.

In other news, sophomore defensive back Tyson Campbell participated in team drills today for the first time since suffering turf toe in the Dawgs’ third game of the season against Arkansas State.

Tailback Brian Herrien’s status for Saturday has not been updated. Herrien, who averages 6.3 yards per carry in 2019, was kept out of Saturday’s game due to back spasms.
