Kirby Smart talks Zamir White recovery

On Monday evening at the Georgia Caravan event in Macon, Georgia, UGA head coach Kirby Smart spoke to the media about redshirt freshman Zamir White’s recovery from his 2nd ACL tear.

“(Zamir) will be past time to come back when training camp begins,” Smart said. “He will still have to be cleared through the protocol, testing, seeing doctors, but based on the ACL tear, he will be past time for that.”

White tore his ACL for the second time last Fall during a scrimmage. This was the 2nd time he suffered an ACL tear, with the first coming during his senior season in high school at Scotland High School in Laurinburg, NC.

Smart also said that White didn’t see contact during the Spring, but he did engage in running, catching and cutting drills. Expect Zamir to see some action this upcoming season behind lead back D’Andre Swift.
