Kirby Smart sensed UGA lack of energy during warmups

On Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs suffered one of their worst losses in recent memory as they were stunned at home by the unranked South Carolina Gamecocks. The loss sent the Dawgs plummeting down to number 10 in the polls and was characterized in large part by a general lack of energy on UGA’s part, something that coach Kirby Smart said that he noticed in warmups.

When he did a pregame radio interview with WSB 750, Smart said, “Our team is not ready to play right now, we’ve got to get our team ready to play. We’ve got to get ready to go execute, it’s going to be a physical, tough game.”

After the game, he reflected, “I saw it in the pregame warmup, and that’s different from practices…We had really good practices up to the game. I think the early start, going out early in pregame warmups, I’m always looking for guys that hit and attack and get really physical. We addressed that.”

It’s very disappointing to see a team with as much talent as UGA come out with such a lack of energy. Hopefully they will learn their lesson before it’s too late.
