Kirby Smart gives injury updates on Georgia’s leading returning RBs

Injuries have plagued Georgia football’s running back room this offseason.

Leading returning rushers Daijun Edwards (MCL) and Kendall Milton (hamstring) have dealt with nagging injuries from spring practice that have put their status for the season opener in doubt.

Their is good news for the Bulldogs, though, as Kirby Smart shared positive updates for the duo after Tuesday’s practice.

They’ve both done more. Daijun stayed in a black. Kendall’s been out of a black. Both are looking good. We’re giving a lot of reps to a lot of other guys, we’ve got a lot of other guys to get prepared, but they’ve both been in indy, they’ve both done drills, they’ve both worked during the run periods and the pass periods. Feel good about both of them.

Edwards finished second on the team in rushing behind 2023 NFL draft pick Kenny McIntosh in 2022, while Milton finished third.

The Bulldogs will need both to get healthy if they want to make another national championship run.

The rest of the tailback room is lacking in experience with sophomore running back Branson Robinson out for the season with a torn patella tendon.

Georgia is left with redshirt freshman Andrew Paul, who has worked his way back from an ACL tear suffered in fall camp last year, along with true freshman Roderick Robinson, sophomore walk-on Cash Jones and Tennessee transfer walk-on Len’Neth Whitehead.
