Kirby Smart excited about UGA football RB Kenny McIntosh

On Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs held their second preseason scrimmage in preparation for the upcoming season, which will kick off on August 31 in Nashville against the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Head coach Kirby Smart overall appeared happier with this effort than the first scrimmage, and had some high praise for freshman running back Kenny McIntosh’s performance.

I thought Kenny McIntosh did some good things today,” Smart said. “He continues to improve. He’s got really good balance and he’s been a good blessing. He’s delivered some blows to people.”

While McIntosh won’t be seeing much time in the backfield this season, he’s still a big part of the future of the UGA program, and it’s a good sign that Smart already appears encouraged by his progress.

The head coach did make it clear, however, that McIntosh’s real value at the moment is on special teams.

“His value right now is going to be special teams, initially,” Smart said. “He earns more value by how he plays on those teams.
