PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLORIDA: Kiradech Aphibarnrat fired a one-under par score of 71 in the first round of The Players Championship on Thursday.
The Thai was among the first group to tee off for the prestigious tournament, but he was far down the leaderboard with many players still on the course.
Kiradech's first-round score of 71 put him five shots back of three clubhouse leaders, who show six-under par for their first round. They were Americans Webb Simpson and Dustin Johnson, and Alex Noren of Sweden.
Kiradech is the only Thai playing in the PGA tournament, which ends on Sunday.
Thai-American Tiger Woods was two over par after just six holes.
