Kippen Street Fayre is facing an uncertain future

The future of Kippen Street Fayre, a popular event of the summer calendar, is hanging in the balance.

Last summer’s gala was cancelled due to coronavirus and a number of committee members have since stepped down.

As restrictions continue this year’s event is unlikely to proceed.

New volunteers however are vital to keep future events going.

A virtual AGM is planned for later this month to discuss the annual June event’s future.

A post on the Kippen Street Fayre Facebook page, dated March 30, states: ‘As you know the Kippen Street Fayre was cancelled last year and is unlikely to go ahead in June 2021 due to the ongoing uncertainty around restrictions.

‘However the committee is planning to hold a virtual AGM on Thursday, April 29, 2021, to discuss the future of the Street Fayre as a number of committee members have recently stood down.

‘If no new volunteers come forward it is unlikely that the Street Fayre will be able continue in future years.

‘We are therefore looking for anyone who is interested in getting involved in organising future events including the possibility of one later this year.’

The 2019 Kippen Street Fayre’s theme was ‘The Greatest Showman.’

It featured a fancy dress competition, circus street performers, stalls, raffle prizes, food and drink, and sausage roll making demonstrations.

There was also a fun dog show and street parade.

The 2019 street fayre King and Queen were Michael Mulvany and Ailsa Adamson along with attendants Angus Anderson, William O’Farrell, Lily Bell and Aimee Johnston.

Those interested in attending the April 29 AGM, or finding out how they can get involved in running the gala, are asked to email kippenstreetfayre@googlemail.com
