Kion Etete has short but sweet message for Notts County fans after Spurs switch

Former Notts County striker Kion Etete left a short and sweet message for Magpies fans after wrapping up his dream move to Champions League finalists Tottenham.

The teenager completed his switch to Spurs on Friday and while the fee was undisclosed, the Post understands the deal is worth around £200,000.

Etete burst into Notts’ first team last season under previous boss Harry Kewell who gave the forward his debut in a Checkatrade Trophy clash against Newcastle.

In total he made six senior appearances for Notts who had helped cultivate the striker’s talent in the academy.

Writing on his Twitter account after completing his switch, Etete said: “Thank you for all the kind messages, can’t wait to get started and work hard.”

Etete’s switch to North London is another feather in the cap for the club’s academy that has seen two players move on to Premier League clubs in recent years.

Jack Bearne moved to Liverpool in 2016, while last summer Dongda He, a highly-rated Chinese midfielder, wrapped up a deal to Wolves following an extremely impressive pre-season at Meadow Lane.
