Kinnoull's Rhys Davies hopes hat-trick can kick-start more joy in front of goal

Rhys Davies netted his first hat-trick of the season to provide plenty of Christmas cheer at Kinnoull.

And the striker hopes his impressive performance in front of goal against Hawick Royal Albert United can lead to many more.

Davies struck twice within the first 11 minutes before his penalty on the half hour mark secured a quick hat-trick for a 3-1 half-time lead.

Patrick Brown netted a long-ranger after the interval and then Dale Smart rounded off the scoring as the final whistle approached.

“It was a big three points for us just before Christmas and especially with the last couple of weeks being off,” Davies told the PA.

“The performance all-round from the boys was good on a very heavy pitch due to the rain.

“For me, it was good to get back in about the goals after having a wee bit of a drought. Hopefully I can continue from here.

“Myself and Daz Gray had been linking up well in recent friendlies and it continued on Saturday.”

Kinnoull have jumped up to fourth in the East of Scotland League Conference B and remain well in contention towards the top end of the table.

“The aim is just to push on now and get as many goals as I can. But most importantly, help the team to three points every week.”
