Kingswood bar issues stark warning after woman claims she was spiked with a needle

A Kingswood bar has issued a stark warning after a woman claimed she was spiked with a needle on a night out.

The victim said she felt "violated and disgusted" after the alleged spiking incident at Bar501 in Kingswood, posting to Facebook to urge girls to be careful.

The bar says it has reached out to the woman and is helping police investigate. Owners also warned drink spiking can happen anywhere and urged 'girls and boys be careful'.

A Facebook post by Bar501 reads: “It’s been brought to our attention that there was an 'alleged' incident of spiking at our Kingswood bar last night. We’ve reached out to the female in question and have offered our full support to help any investigation.

“At this moment in time we don’t have any concrete evidence but will leave no stone unturned. As a precaution our staff and door staff have been notified and will be vigilant during busy periods.

“We have taken accounts from our bar staff and reviewed the CCTV. It wasn’t a particularly busy night, and the female was accompanied by her boyfriend all night. They left together without any obvious problems. We will be offering the CCTV to the police to help any investigation.

“It’s worth mentioning drink spiking can happen ANYWHERE so please please girls and boys be careful and never drink alone. We await a response from the female who has made the accusation.”

It follows reports of widespread drinking spiking across the country.

Last month a Bristol teenager recalled 'gurning and foaming at the mouth' after being spiked at a student nightclub during freshers.

Incidents of needle spiking have also been reported with one woman claiming to have "almost been spiked with a needle" at Bristol nightclub Thekla.
