Kingston Bridge - police negotiators called to M8 after man found on 'wrong side' of road

Police rushed to the Kingston Bridge tonight after receiving reports of a man on the "wrong side" of the road.

As reported by Glasgow Live, the M8 was closed on both sides, near to Junction 19, for more than half an hour as emergency workers dealt with the incident.

They were on the scene just after 8pm (Sunday, July 14).

All access points to the bridge, north and southbound, were closed as a precaution and officers, supported by police negotiators, attended to persuade the man to come down.

A police spokesperson said: "The man was removed from the bridge around 8.35 pm and taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he remains in the care of NHS Greater Glasgow.

"The Kingston Bridge has now reopened.
