Manchester United have reportedly discussed the prospect of making a move for Kingsley Coman this summer.
With Borussia Dortmund playing hard-ball in their valuation of top target Jadon Sancho, the Red Devils are looking at alternatives.
The Athletic claim they have talked about pursuing Bayern Munich winger Coman having watched him extensively.
It could see Coman link-up with former Juventus team-mate Paul Pogba again - and past comments on the Frenchman suggest he could be a key factor in convincing him to head to Old Trafford.
Speaking when Pogba made his return to United back in 2016, Coman singled him out as a player he would love to have alongside him at Bayern.
“If I could choose a player, I would like to have Pogba for Bayern," Coman told Bild four years ago.
“This would be fantastic. He has unbelievable abilities and is a fantastic midfielder.
"Apart from this he is not only important on the pitch. He has a huge marketing value. He stays in people's minds.”
Coman, 24, played alongside Pogba during his tough spell at Juventus and they are also international team-mates with France.
Sancho remains United’s top target, however, and Jesse Lingard this week admitted he would be a “great addition” to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.
“Jadon is a brilliant player. It's obviously up to him,” Lingard said.
“I’ve seen him with England, I’ve seen his qualities and I feel like he’d be a great addition to any team.”
