On Wednesday afternoon social media pages for the new Kingsley Crystalbrook five-star hotel in the heart of Newcastle at 282 King Street announced that bookings had commenced.
The Kingsley website says the hotel will open on June 15.
Those who join the hotel's "The Crystalbrook Crowd" email list qualify for a 10 per cent discount on direct bookings through the hotel's website.
The two announced launch offers are an urban room, the smallest available (26-33 square metres), from $325 night (less with the Crowd discount), and The Reveal, which includes accommodation, breakfast and cocktails for two from $395 (less with Crowd discount).
The hotel features 130 rooms. It will have a ground floor cafe (Miss Mary's), and rooftop bar (Romberg's) and restaurant (Roundhouse).
Signage for the building has recently been installed and outdoor lighting is currently in testing. It has been reported that the building can be seen from the Anzac Walk on Memorial Drive in Merewether when fully lit at night.
In an Australian first, Crystalbrook Kingsley will have 100 per cent waste-free bathrooms, where all bathroom amenities biodegradable or recyclable.
Other sustainable initiatives include the use of upcycled and recycled materials in construction, a single-use plastic free environment, keyless room access and paperless check in and check out.
All rooms and suites come equipped with technology sweeteners including tablet control centres to order in room dining or a room tidy-up, STAYCAST by Google for video streaming and access to hundreds of recent release complimentary movies.
The hotel's environmental stance continues through to the restaurant and rooftop bar, where 80 per cent of the produce is grown within a three-hour radius of the hotel.
The name Kingsley is a tribute to Newcastle's heritage and the city's earlier name of Kingston, which dates back to 1804.
