Kings of Comedy to play it for laughs on night of Coronation

Top comics will play it for laughs when they take to the stage in Kilmarnock on a landmark date.

The 'Kings of Comedy' will grace the Palace Theatre on the coronation day of Charles III.

And show bosses are hoping Saturday, May 6 goes down in history for more than reason.

Scots comedian Des Clarke heads a stellar bill that includes Ayrshire funnyman Billy Kirkwood and English comic legend Mick Miller.

Des told Ayrshire Live: "For me, this is an item being ticked off the bucket list.

"To appear on the same bill as a comedian like Mick Miller is the stuff of dreams.

"He was one of the guys who originally got me into comedy and is a legend of our industry.

"The fact he's still going in his 70s is testament to that and he is a truly great performer.

"I've never had the chance to perform on the same bill as him so I'm delighted to finally get the chance."

Clarke has become the reliable anchorman for show producers, Edd Holloway Productions, for a number of their recent outings in Ayrshire.

He added: "The entertainment scene down here is fantastic and proves you don't have to go to the big venues in the big cities to get a good night out.

"In life, we've never needed to laugh as much as we do right now.

"That's why I'll always say comedy is the best night out and I think the people of Ayrshire are in for a treat.

"This standard of show would fit well on any stage around the country and I'm just thrilled to be part of it."

Show boss Edd Holloway added: "Putting on a comedy night has long been an ambition of mine.

"The Kings of Comedy on the day of the King's Coronation...it has a ring to it, right?

"Mick Miller is a legend of the game and has performed for the Royal Family at the Royal Variety Show.

"Just getting him up to be part of this is fantastic and I know the guys will put on a fantastic night."

Tickets, from £19, are available from the Palace Theatre Box office or online at www.eastayrshireleisure.com
