A man has been arrested after a suspicious item was found at King’s Cross tube station, forcing thousands of passengers to evacuate.
Officers were called to the busy station shortly before 6pm on Tuesday. A man was arrested on the suspicion of having a “potentially dangerous item”, the Met Police said.
The force added that it is continuing to investigate the incident.
Video footage circulating online shows crowds of passengers being escorted out of the station amid a station announcement of a "reported emergency."
A status alert from Transport for London reads: "King's Cross St. Pancras: Closed - This station is closed while we respond to a security alert. London Buses are accepting tickets via reasonable routes."

Passengers were urged to find alternative routes to complete their journeys.
In the video posted to X, an announcement says: "Due to a reported emergency would all passengers leave the station immediately."

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to King’s Cross Station just before 6pm yesterday (11 March) to reports of a suspicious item.
“Officers attended, and a man was arrested on suspicion of breaching byelaw 2 offence, potentially dangerous items. Officers continue to investigate the incident.”
