Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz received in Riyadh on Sunday Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

He threw a luncheon banquet in honor of his guest, who is on a tour to the region.

Abe, who had arrived in the Kingdom on Saturday, left Riyadh on Sunday heading to Al-Ula.

At King Khalid International Airport, the Japanese PM was seen off by Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region and a representative of the Royal Protocol.

During his five-day tour, Abe will also visit the United Arab Emirates and Oman, where a new ruler was sworn in on Saturday following the death of modern day Oman's founding father Sultan Qaboos.
