Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman praised on Sunday the security agencies at the Saudi Interior Ministry for their performance between June 25, 2017 and April 18, 2018.

In a cable to Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef, King Salman thanked him and all the ministry employees for their special and successive accomplishments.

“These accomplishments reflect the effort and development in their performance, which led to a noticeable drop in crime rates,” he said.

Prince Mohammed sent a similar cable in which he noted the ministry’s unique performance and remarkable achievements and services.

The Interior Minister had sent to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed cables on the positive results of the security agencies’ performance between June 25, 2017 and April 18, 2018.

The success, he said, reflects the attention received by the ministry from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince.

He then detailed the accomplishments achieved during the above mentioned period.

In the criminal security field, the wider deployment of security forces throughout the Kingdom led to a 6.5 drop in murders, 2 percent drop in theft and 10.5 percent drop in armed robberies.

In traffic safety, the improved security measures led to a 19.7 drop in traffic accidents and 19.1 drop in deaths. The numbers of those injured in accidents dropped 15.9 percent, said the Interior Ministry report.

In border security and drug trafficking, it said that border guards improved by 7.1 percent in arresting drug smugglers and 35.5 percent in detecting border infiltrators. They also improved 34.95 percent in seizing all types of drugs, 393 percent in detecting heroin and 176.5 percent in detecting cannabis.

In cracking down on residency violators, the security measures led to the arrest of 984,007 violators and deportation of 250,571 of them. Security measures are underway to deport 308,314 others.
