King Princess cancels Leeds Festival appearance due to illness

US pop star and Mark Ronson protégé King Princess has been forced to pull out of Leeds festival this weekend because of illness.

Organisers tweeted earlier to let fans know the 1950 singe, real name Mikaela Straus, would not be appearing.

Even though she has still only officially released nine songs in her career so far, she has developed a huge teen following.

King Princess was due to make her debut at the event this year, appearing on the Radio One stage on Sunday.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer.

The 1975 will still headline the Leeds Festival main stage (Teesside Live/Katie Lunn)

Her talent has seen her signed to Mark Ronson’s Zelig Records label.

In a tweet from the official Reading and Leeds account, organisers said: "Unfortunately King Princess will no longer be performing at the festival this weekend due to illness."

Some fans were left devastated by the news, including twitter user @zoho86, who wrote: "Wtf!!!! I’m literally only going to see @KingPrincess69 what an absolute waste of money."

And @JfcLtown said: "Cheers sons crying now, nice one."
